Boarder Crossing
After convincing customs to let 8 volunteers from Costa Rica in the country, my fellow travelers and I realized Panama was a perfect break from our lives in CR.  Can you believe they wanted us to all show $500 to get in, on $100 monthly stipend?  Our first stop was David at the Purple House.  Then a night bus ride to Panama City.  Night bus travel was the best compared to CR the bus had air, you sleep and wake up with the day ready to begin.  In the City we stayed at Hotel California.  A great place and good location for $11 a night.  It was so easy to travel around the city the taxis can be a bit on the fast track but they know where they are going and they take you there fast.  I loved hopping in and trying to 5 people into 1 cab, the drivers were always listening lively Spanish music.  In contrast to CR, we never had to haggle for a ride it was and I felt safe.  Often in San Jose, CR I was worried that I would get hassled with the fare, they'd take the long way or drop me off in no man's land. But enough about that.  It was just so easy to travel around by foot  too!  We felt like we were on vacation and that was just perfect.
