Snook Haven is an Old Florida style restaurant and entertainment spot. Snook Haven Restaurant & Fish Camp has been a fixture in Venice for more than 50 years. Even before the 1st Snook Haven SIGN was planted fishermen were headed to waters of the Myakka River; to fish, camp in the area & telling fish stories around the campfire. Anglers were followed by movie producers who used the beautiful backdrop to produce such films as the 1947 horror film Revenge of the Killer Turtles featuring the Snook Haven Turtles with Johnny Weismuller as Tarzan ( I could find no record of this movie on the internet, One More Local Story?? & the French film Seven Sundays in 1993.
Synopsis: The tale of Dodo, a Frenchman who has successfully and charmingly evaded work all his life and Jesus, an Italian TravBuddy musician who winds up in Sarasota in search of a woman who promised to marry him.

In the early 1940s, locals say Snook Haven's cabins were used as brothels. Each cabin had a name above the door none of the locals have any Personal knowledge of this fact they all KNEW someone who KNEW somebody you know??
Snook Haven is located next door to Camp Venice where Old School spent the night across the water of River Road at the intersection of East Venice Avenue in Venice. From Sarasota, exit I-75 at River Road (exit 191) and turn right. Take your first left and you'll find the dirt road leading to Snook Haven. Old Florida at its BEST!!
