Last time I visited London, 3 years ago, I told myself I'd never come back. But as soon as I got on the tube, I couldn't help feel this overwhelming feeling of happiness come over me. Maybe I was just so happy to be out of Scandinavia or maybe it was nice being in familiar territory. Hearing the British accents, seeing advertisements for Magners...I had a feeling London might just be more enjoyable this time around. Plus I was meeting up with Brad & Iain (the Aussies I spent time with in Bruges), so I knew there was a ton of fun waiting for me.
Brad met up with me on Friday afternoon. He's been living in London for a couple of months, but has barely seen the city.
My beloved Magners
I think he's been too busy going to festivals around Europe and doing what Aussies do best, drinking! It was a nice day, so we went to Hyde Park at sat by the Round Pond, just catching up. The next day, I went over to the house where Brad & Iain have been crashing and just as I had expected, we had a drunken good time. The next day was a write off, the perfect day to do my last load of laundry. It was a little bittersweet, that meant that I was going home in 2 weeks, but also that I would be wearing clean clothes again very soon. The next morning, Brad & I agreed to take the free walking tour. After walking basically all of London, we felt we deserved a nice refreshment at one of Brad & Iain's favourite pubs, The Slug. They had spoken about this place many times while we were in Bruges and I could finally understand why they liked it so much. Cheap food and drinks amongst fellow Aussies, not to mention the Snakebites (beer, cider and blackcurrant). As sad as I was saying goodbye, I had a feeling I'd see them again.
