Athens, Greece

Friday was bittersweet. I had to say goodbye to new friends, but I was excited to start the next part of my journey. The morning began by getting half of my clothes washed at a laudromat (the other half I did later in the hotel bathtub). Then us girls went to Monastiraki to have souvalaki. After parting ways with Shanelle, Fatima and I were off to the Acropolis, which thankfully was open after a 1 day strike. It was a really nice day, so nice I got another small sunburn (I've been carrying sunscreen in my purse since). You could tell I was a foreigner because I was the only one in a tank top while everyone else had coats and scarves on, but common it was 20 out and the sun is hot especially when you're climbing the Acropolis. It's just annoying/pathetic how the men act (but they're like this even when I'm wearing a baseball hat and ugly jacket, there's no winning). I think this is one of the reasons I'm leaving Greece earlier than planned.

Yep. Not a fan of Athens. I thought it was filthy! I would've liked to have spent more time there to check out ancient ruins, and maybe a trip up to Delphi...buuut, Athens just wasn't worth it.

My wife just read this over my shoulder and said, "yep, the men there are horrible, but not as bad as they are in Italy!!"
