Athens, Greece

Met up with an old elementary school classmate. Very random.
After sitting in my apartment for the last two months, reading nothing but books on Europe, so much that I felt like I already knew the place. Now I can finally say I've been. The flights were long, but at my gate I ran into someone I knew from elementary school. Frankfurt is a HUGE airport. While there I discovered that handlebar moustaches and mullets haven't gone out of style in Germany. I didn't have any problems getting to my hotel, since there were Greek men left, right & centre offering to give me directions, buy my metro ticket, give me tours. I thought "wow I could get used to this", but boy did I get tired of it quickly. Not getting to my hotel until 6:30, not having slept in many hours and considering my hotel was in one of the sketchier parts of Athens (Psiri), I decided to keep the sightseeing for after the cruise. Instead I got to know my new roommates, Fatima & Shanelle. It was a great first day; didn't get too lost, didn't get crazy roommates and well, I was in Greece and I was jumping on a cruise the next morning.

Maybe the only thing I would have done differently was buy a couple of more souvenirs from Greece. After all the things I saw everywhere else, Greece had some of the nicest artwork. Have fun and I hope you get some great weather!

Dodgy Athens
This hotel is located in a very dodgy part of the city. If you are a woman traveling alone, I wouldn't recommend leaving the hotel at night.
Some of the staff are extremely nice and helpful, while others are very rude and cold.
The shower has no curtain, for those who are not too graceful, such as myself, it can get very messy.
The interior is very clean and fancy and the breakfast included in the morning is very good.
There is wifi internet available, but it isn't cheap. €5 for an hour and a half.
