After months of a long distance relationship, I've made the decision to move to Taiwan to be with my honey. This blog will follow the whole journey, planning, to when I finally make it to Taiwan this summer! :-)

Nan-ao

After leaving the beach, we headed through the township of Nan-ao.  The dark sandy beach is gorgeous from high above - I just wish the clouds had cleared a bit more to showcase the beautiful turquoise waters of the area.  I could not find much about this area online but apparently it does have some hot springs, waterfalls, hiking trails, and some bike paths along the country roads.

What I did find is this area is known for Sayun's Bell - a memorial to a young girl who died in 1938, named Sayun Hayung.  Apparently she was very saddened to learn her Japanese teacher was returning to Japan and was carrying his luggage to help send him off when she was blown off the bridge by a big storm and killed.
