Looking for an adrenaline packed vacation? Why not choose the adventure capital of the world and one of my favorite spots, Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. While Zimbabwe's volatile political situation has deter some visitors, the recent runaway inflation of the Zimbabwean dollar has translated to bargain rates and reemerging tourism around Victoria Falls. Also in a historical event, the opposition leader was sworn in last week, bringing optimism and hope to the entire country. Expect five-star accommodations at three-star price tags, a safe environment and the best activities in the world. The number one reason people visit Victoria Falls is to see the falls, which in themselves defy description.

In order to fully appreciate the magnificence of the Falls, you’ll want to do a walking tour of the falls through the natural rainforest created by the sky-high spray of the falls, as well as an aerial ‘Flight of Angels’ by helicopter or light aircraft. For soft adventure, Zambezi River cruises offer romance and unlimited photographic opportunities to capture hippo pods against flaming sunsets for which the river is famed. Sedate canoeing brings you up close and personal with the wildlife, which frequents the riverbanks by day, and night game drives awaken the nocturnal world of the African bush. For adrenaline junkies, Victoria Falls offers more than a fair fix -- arguably the planet’s wildest whitewater rafting and river boarding (surfing) through ferocious rapids aptly named The Boiling Pot, The Devil’s Toilet Bowl, The Terminator and Commercial Suicide.

If plunging’s your thing, try the heart-stopping 364 feet bunji-jump off the historic bridge straddling two countries, or a harnessed bridge swing giving a 360-degree view of the river, gorge and bridge. As if those thrillers were not enough, operators have recently added a hugely popular bridge slide from the lip of the gorge to the center of the bridge. For animal lovers, Victoria Falls has no shortage of game in the area, and with common sightings of elephant, buffalo, hippo and warthog, it’s tempting to believe you’ve seen it all, until you participate in any of the many game experiences offered by various operators. These include highly informative and interactive elephant-back safaris, game-spotting walks and drives in open safari vehicles. A safari experience in Victoria Falls is about 50% less that what you would pay in South Africa.

Notable is the lion encounter, a walk ‘led by the lions’ to climb trees, stalk small game and play in riverbeds, the absolute highlight of my trip. With so much to do in Victoria Falls, it’s a battle between staying within the luxurious confines of your hotel indulging in a relaxing massage or lazing on the balcony, cocktail in hand, soaking in Nature’s amazing wonders, and venturing out to take on as much of the Vic Falls adventure as you humanly can within your stay. But why battle? Simply stay for longer! For more information on all the exciting activities offered at Victoria Falls, visit the Tourism’s board’s website at GotoVictoriaFalls.com
