Out comes the sun

What can I say? I think it is a pretty picture :)

After two days of continued snowfall, today was a lovely day.

The sun makes everything prettier :)
Although it started slightly grey and misty in the early morning, once on the slopes the clouds made way for the sun. For my friends it was a pain skiing with me today, because I had to stop every few turns to take pictures of the beautiful landscape and the fresh fallen snow. It is funny how just a little bit of sun can make a photo so much more nice.

Yesterday afternoon my buddy Eelco had arrived. He had decided he could use a little break from his daily routine and drove in ten hours straight to Haute Nendaz, to turn the naughty nine into the terrific ten :) Eelco not being a skier suggested we do a daytrip in his 4x4. He loves driving in the mountains and with scenery complete with fresh fallen pure white snow, I don't blame him. Just an hour's drive from Haute Nendaz my sister's chalet is tucked away in a pine tree covered cranny of the mountain. I knew she wouldn't be there, because she's busy with some project at home. But perhaps the neighbours would be. It had been quite a while since I last saw her Swiss neighbours, so I thought it would be fun to pay them a surprise visit.

So, from our snow covered spot, it was down to the snow free valley, a few kilometres down the highway and up the next mountain. Fortunately, the neighbours were home. We had a lovely cup of hand warming tea, accompanied by heart-warming conversation. On our way back to Nendaz, we stopped at a mega super market to buy the necessary groceries for several days and dinners. Buying in the valley is much cheaper than up the mountain. And being on a budget vacation, I could do with any penny saved :)
