Getting there is half the fun :)
January 16, 2009
Just as in the last seven years, the same fabulous bunch of friends set course for the slopes. Yes, it is that time again. Our yearly skiing extravaganza is about to commence. Each year we drive to our destination, and this year is no exception. However, as we get older we no longer feel the need (or have the energy, LOL) to drive the approximately 1000km in one go. We therefore opted for an overnight stay in a cheap hotel. Our place of snow-white mischief this year is Haute Nendaz in Switzerland, near Lausanne. The nearest cheap hotel we could find was an F1 on the outskirts of Lausanne.
The trip to Lausanne was fine; most of the time we had excellent driving conditions. Only once was it misty, lovely photos are the result. From The Hague we drove through Belgium, Luxembourg and Northern France. Most of below pictures are from northern France. After our arrival at the F1 hotel in Lausanne, we were in search of a place to eat that evening. We had seen a 'Buffalo Grill' in the distance, from the outside an appealing chain of grill restaurants. We have always wanted to eat at one, but somehow never got around to actually doing it. However, this one being visually close we opted to make it there this year and started walking over.
After the greater part of three quarters of an hour, we finally arrived at the door of the Buffalo Grill. It had appeared so close, but to get there we had to duck under or climb over an eight lane motorway. With cars going by at what seemed like a hundred miles per hour, crossing it was no option. During our walk, thoughts about unreachable goals did come up, but our spirit never sank. Jokingly, we renamed the desired dinner location to 'The Holy Grill'. Anyway, dinner was fine, the steak reasonable, but very good value for money, considering the price. Maybe, just maybe I might do a review on the grill :) I did take a photo, just in case, of both the in- and exterior but as always I forgot to take a picture of the food, lol.
Here are the photos of our first day of fun filled adventures.
