Oahu Hotel Suggestions
January 2, 2009
I compiled a quick list of hotels that you may want to consider when visiting Oahu. I put this list together in preparation for the Honolulu TravBuddy meetup in Feb 2010. I will continue to revise the list. There are MANY hotels I haven't listed, but this is a good starting point. If you have questions about a specific property, please ask.
Here is a link to a map of Waikiki. It also lists many of the hotels and attractions. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the map. It may be helpful to open the link into its own page when researching hotels. Here is the map link:

Hostels
There are three hostels on Lemon Road, which is 1/2 block from Waikiki Beach.
Waikiki Beachside Hostel - My friend and fellow TravBuddy, Ganes (Kaantie95) stayed here when he visited in April 2009. He thought it was a nice place.

Polynesian Hostel Beach Club - Has decent reviews. That's all I know about the place.

Pacific Ohana Hostel - Doesn't have good reviews. No web site.
Seaside Hawaiian Hostel - A hostel with good reviews and a great Waikiki location.

Hostel International - Waikiki - A hostel with a good location and decent reviews. You want the one located at 2417 Prince Edward Street. They have another location on Seaview Avenue, but it's near the university and too far from Waikiki.

Royal Hawaiian - The world famous pink hotel on Waikiki beach. Huge renovation completed in early 2009. The rooms are nice. I've stayed in a few different categories of rooms here. The cheap ones aren't worth it but the suites are NICE!! Good beachfront bar for having sunset cocktails and a snack.
