Malaysian Crazy Ritual in Germany
Zo, we head to the restaurant called Alex ( I need to write a review on this too) which is right infront of the Tram station in the center of the downtown shopping stretch in Kassel, Germany. It is a nice place to hang out till late with nice patios outside, nice glass windowed cosy interior inside with lots of candles. There are also nice seats, settes outside along the corridor where they have blankets and overhead heaters where one can sit outside and smoke your lung out...I do smoke but not my lung out..lol
So we sat down in a cosy area. Discussed intelligently, you know, a stupid engineer and a crazy lawyer, and decided to take one Indonesische Ingwer suppe (Indonesian Ginger soup) and share. Main course would be Salat for the lawyer and Chicken Tikka for the Indian dude, and hhmmmm.
...just a bottle of water to share. So we sat down waited, talked and then I had to dump her by politely asking if she will be fine sitting alone awhile, not scared like a small kid and very Intelligently, she said go ahead and smoke Ganes....ha ha..DankeschönThe the food came early and she waited till i also finished talking to my best friend in Romania. So I head to the table, and we enjoyed eating, chatting and talking crap. The shared suppe was nice and tasty, but she dumped the rest to me. Her salat, she finished and I insisted for her to share Chicken Tikka with me. We were very decent until we decided...Aha, we are in Germany, so the rule is " When you are in Germany, DO NOT do as the Germans do".....so it was snowing outside too. I started cracking my heads with craps and we talk craps.
Then, we finished the food and decided to get an ice cream. So we ordered decently and decisively to share one ice cream but asked for 4 spoons. 4 Spoons??? the waiter (kellner) was surprised but since Alex is a cosy decent cafe, he obliged and brought the ice cream with 4 spoons. We dugged in with 2 spoons each, eating very decently and in proper 'uncivilized' way of course. On top of this, we both had a napkin/serviette, a white one on top of our heads and eat ice cream. Imagine all the other Germans and others sitting around in that cosy restaurant/cafe. We were in our own world...enjoying every bit. We talked and talked for nearly 3 hours....so much laughter, unbelievable.
Then the Rituals, Malaysian Rituals. When the waiter came back to ask us if anything we need, my buddy, my counsellor, started speaking in German to him explaining.
I kept just smiling politely as he looked at me with surprised face, intriguing looks and an amazed expression. And he walked away politely with lot of thoughts in his mind. So I asked my best friend, what happened, what did you say to him? She said,"Oh Nothing, I just told him that you are from Malaysia and this is the frist time you see snow and as a Malaysian Ritual, you had to have this white napkin paper on top of your head symbolizing the white snow and as a respect and courtesy, I also eventhough being a German had to follow do the same. And that it is also part of the ritual to eat ice cream with 2 hands, 2 spoons, two of us from single ice cream glass. And that, all the laughing and noise was part of the rituals. Further, behaving 'differently' and taking pictures are necessary for home."
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA........we both could not stop laughing like hell...poor guy, poor Germans..........
Then...we have decided to continue this ritual next time, next place, .....for Rain with water on top of the head and Sunshine with a little fire on the head.....till next time we do it, i will keep all TB posted........
