The Summary
Acanceh a large Maya site is located 10 miles southeast of Mérida off of Highway 18 in the modern town of Acanceh. Acanceh was founded prior to 300 AD. Acanceh grew to more than 2 sq, miles in area and had more than 400 structures. Must see the restored structures, a 33' tall, three-leveled step pyramid with carved stucco masks, the "Palace of the Stuccos" a 20' tall, 160' long structure with elaborate friezes. The architectural style of these structure has Teotihuacan characteristics.
