Family Visit
June 17, 1999
Turku is believed to be the oldest city in Finland and served as the capital until 1812. Turku is located along the Aura river and during the summer months the party boats that are docked alongside the river stay busy serving food and drinks.
We managed to make a trip to the Luostarinmaki Handicrafts Museum. Luostarinmäki is known as the "Old City" of Turku because it is the only part of the city that survived the great fire of 1827. There are well over thirty workshops that represent the different craftmanships and handicrafts of Finnish culture.
Although we did get in some tourist activities, this stop was mainly spent catching up with family and friends.
