We ask the owner of the campground who is also the employee at the post office if it is possible to drive our RV up the road to the Salmon Glacier. He asks if it is our own RV. When we reply that it’s a rental he says that in that case it is not a problem! So we take the risk and drive up the road to the Salmon Glacier. We spot a few Bald Eagles on the way. The road climbs quickly and starts to get worse. Our plates, glasses and other kitchen stuff rattles loudly in the cupboards behind us (it probably sounds worse than it is). We get rewarded by stunning views over the glacier when we get to the top. There is a helicopter in the far distance flying over the glacier, at least we hear one, we have trouble seeing it because it looks like a tiny insect flying over the enormous glacier. Because we want to drive back to Canada today we turn around and drive to the border, to Stewart. There are no other roads than the one we took yesterday so we had back south. I spot a rare Kermode bear near the road. These bears are white like polar bears (not the same) and only live in this area. There was no time for a picture (by the time we stopped and turned the RV the bear was long gone). At Kitwanga we take a left back on Hwy 16 towards Smithers where we are the only guests for the night at the Glacier View RV Park & Cabins.
