Banff NP Parker Ridge trail
It was a cold night at the edge of the glacier. When we wake up it rains a little. After breakfast we steer the RV onto the Icefield Parkway heading south. We stop at the starting point of the Parker Ridge trail. We stuff all the raingear in the backpacks and head up the trail. It’s a fair climb but on top you have a superb view onto the Saskatchewan Glacier. In the high season this trail tends to get crowded, probably because it starts right next to the Icefield Parkway, a popular tourist route, and the trail is only about 5 kilometers long. Today we are almost alone up here; the sun is even trying to get through the clouds.
We have a lunch stop at Saskatchewan River Crossing and are enjoying the drive along the Icefield Parkway. At Peyto Lake we have a ‘photo stop’. When the busses with German and Japanese people are gone we can enjoy a quiet moment with a wonderful view over this deep green lake, just before the next bus arrives…
