lake Louise, little behive
At the Lake Louise Visitor Centre the weather forecast for today and tomorrow is very good: sunny and dry. We decide to stay for at least two days. A nice lady in the centre tells us which trails are only open for groups larger than six people because of recent bear sightings (especially near Moraine Lake). There are some great hikes around Lake Louise so that’s where we are heading today.
After parking the RV we walk to the Lake in front of the enormous Fairmont Chateau. It’s a huge hotel at a prime spot; we suspect the prices are huge too. The lake is really beautiful and even this early in the day the shores are swarming with tourists who make a photo stop here. When we start our hike it gets quieter real quick. Only one hour away at our first stop: Mirror Lake, there are just a few fellow hikers. The masses stay down near the Hotel. Somewhat further on the track is a side hike up the ‘Little Beehive’. Up here we have a superb view over the lake with the Chateau in the background and the surrounding mountains. Next stop is Lake Agnes with its cozy teahouse. We have a lovely lunch here, enjoying the sunny weather looking over the mirror-like lake, before heading on climbing up the ‘Big Beehive’ where the views are pretty much the same as on the little one: great!
