Banff
Again there is a short hike on the agenda for today. We park at Johnston Canyon Lodge with lots of other people and walk into Johnston Canyon. The path slowly goes up along a river, first (of course) we get to the lower falls. Quit a large number of our fellow walkers decide that this is far enough from the car park so the next few kilometers to the upper falls are not as crowded. We could walk futher on to the Ink Pots but decide to skip these.
We spent a rainy afternoon shopping in Banff and we visit the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel just a short walk from ‘downtown’ Banff. It’s as imposing and impressive as the Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise. We wander around the tastefully decorated halls and look at some old pictures of the heydays of this splendid place when smartly dressed people got pampered here.
