Our late arrival at the Lihue airport found us surrounded in tropical darkness. With the aid of excellent directions, we found our destination in Koloa at the Villas at Poipu Kai in about 30 minutes. The plumeria scented breezes buffered our exhausted faces as we admired the property we were about to make our temporary home. Kind of looks like fairyland. Tonight, to bed, tomorrow we explore.
Ah, the time change. An early wakening brings delight to all. The beauty and peace of the property hosting a central pool and spa draw us to the huge lanai for our morning coffee. Goodness, the lanai is almost as large as the living room! I believe this condo is 2000 sq feet. I do believe every thing that we desired was placed here just for us. The furnishings are fabulous, beds so comfy, extrordinary kitchen with all of the amenities of home make cooking in and snacking a breeze, and the air conditioning is welcome for those times we want to kick back and cool off.
Each and every morning and evening found us at Poipu Beach welcoming the sunrise and celebrating the sunset end of the day. Our days were full, both on and off the property. We found delight in the 3 beaches within 5 minutes walk, and never tired of snorkeling, boogie boarding, and watching the seals and turtles. Just down the road, we found a great spot for a shore dive that did not even require certification but allowed us to swim with the marine life. Golf, dining (you must try Keoki's) , and of course, sightseeing, filled each day. The evenings found us back at our wonderful base camp at the Villas at Poipu Kai. Some nights we took advantage of the bbq grills and then ended our day with a relaxing soak in the spa with the waterfall rolling down the rocks behind. The kids loved ending the day in front of the huge flat screened TV's, and of course, we were thrilled that they were happy.
The 4th day we chose to venture to the North Shore and had a wonderful day playing on Kee Beach, hiking the Napali Coastline, and stopping in Ching Young Village in Hanalei upon return. The views offered along the drive were absolutely breathtaking.
Just to wrap up...stay at the Villas at Poipu Kai! We paid only $599 for a 4 bedroom 3 1/2 bath 1200 sq ft condo, and it would have paid over $400 for a (that's only 1) Hotel room at the Hyatt. We would have needed 4 of them...do the math and enjoy the space and amenities! No sitting around visiting on a hotel bed, as we have all done.. They can be found at www.turtlereefresorts.com and are offering discounts now! They just opened in December of 08. I believe we will go back, maybe without the kids....very soon. Our friends are excited and I think the next trip will be a "couples only" one.
This is a deal!
