The Summary
Ek'Balam,“Black Jaguar” a small Maya site that is located 119 miles east of Merida. This site is not visited often. Ek'Balam is one of the longest continuously inhabited sites on the Yucatan. Ek'Balam was first inhabited prior to 100 BC and continue until the Spanish arrival. It has one of the finest pieces of Maya sculpture in the Yucatan. Most of the visible buildings were built around 800 AD or later.
