Day 5: Clonmacnoise

I hopped over to London to visit a friend who was schooling over there for the year. Together, we traveled over to Ireland to enjoy the sights and scenery and enjoy some Guinness along the way.

Day 5: Clonmacnoise

After a very early morning start, we headed out of Dublin and made a stop at the Papal Cross. It was a very interesting sight to see and something, that honestly, I've never heard of. We continued to day's trip to Clonmacnoise - an ancient Christian monastic settlement. The remaining structures were so beautiful and the landscape was incredibly serene. It was just a short stop for a few hours before we headed on to Galway to spend the evening. Mind you, it was Good Friday at this point and we could expect to experience no night life since Ireland's bars are not open this day. But, our tour operators were kind enough to stop and buy a very large amount of alcohol to enjoy the evening in the hostel and get to know our fellow travelers.
