What a fun day!! We started our day off by thinking that the fair would not be crowded because of the Gasparilla Parade going on downtown. Everyone else was thinking the same idea. We got to the fairgrounds around one and had to wait on MLK Blvd to get in. The parking lot was getting full. Parking was free and they had a shuttle to get you up to the addmisson gates. Only $10 to get in. Our first thing we all wanted to do was see the animal exhibits like goats, rabbits, cows, chickens, and horses. Kids from the 4H clubs come from all around the state to show off there animals. We look for the Best In Show and 1ST place ribbons.
Next we hit the midway. I was the only one wanting to ride something. My favorite is the Double Ferris Wheel, it was no where to be found this year.
Our next stop was Cracker Country. It is a living display of what Florida was like back in the late 1800's. You could make your own candle out of bee's wax or eat some homemade kettle korn. They had a live Bluegrass band called Southern Star. That was nice to listen too, it gave us a chance to rest underneath the huge oak trees covered in moss. We visited the FLorida Wildlife Display with a black bear, panther, wild hog, snook, large mouth bass, and red fish.
We headed over to the Event building to see the show. It was music impersonators. The show was okay but Elvis was the best.
We watched the fireworks and then it was off to the car. We had been here for eight hours and we were exhausted!!
