I get back to Souk El Arba pretty late… find a cheap hotel and head out to see the town… Everything is shutting down, so I go back to my room and decide to call it a night…

Souk El Arba or “Wednesday Market” is the largest city in Morocco to have such a generic name—and it’s pretty generic in other respects as well.  Most of the neighbourhoods are pretty boring and shoddy and next morning I still don’t see much going in its market area... I headed across the train tracks to explore the other side—only to find some more boring streets with trash strewn about its streets with broken paving.  A large dump seperates two of the neighborhoods... Suddenly, I see this beautiful metal gateway painted black and sky blue up ahead… I went closer…
It’s the prison!

You know what, I think a city has a serious problem when its most beautiful structure is the prison!  (See also my Sunbury, PA blog…)

Anyways… Not every town can look like Moulay Bouselham…
