Episode 05: Back to the Souss Valley

I've been traveling quite intensely for the last month and I think I'm going to do one more short trip before

chilling out for a while...

Back down to my old tromping grounds in Agadir region.  This time I'm determined to do some serious parkbenching.  There are a number of villages in the area that I explored way back in the nineties that I need to revisit, reminisce on old times, and of course, parkbench.

So after a day of socializing, I head towards the city bus station to catch a bus to... Taghazout.  This town will bring back flashbacks of a day trip I took here with my wife back in August 2001 shortly after getting married..

. a very special time, obviously.

Now Taghazout doesn't have a whole lot of substance as a town, but it's famous around the world as a surfing destination.  It's also a very popular spillover beach for the crowds in Agadir during the summer.  But now it's winter, and I don't surf, so I'm not all that excited about going there...

Scores of European surfers seem to be just milling around on the beach in their wetsuits--I'm assuming the waves aren't right for surfing or something... Looks rather depressing if you ask me... I mean don't you guys have a plan B if you can't surf?

One thing Taghazoute did have in its favour was the raw, rugged shoreline to the north and the south.  Well, now several huge chunks of that are being chopped up and turned into massive resort areas...

Oh well...
