0285. The cops in Guigou (Mor 118--new)

Guigou isn't on the map, but being market day in Timahdit, there's transportation heading that way.  So we ride along a quiet road with treeless plains to the left and steep mountains to the right until we reached a rather colorless, muddy little town.   It takes me less then an hour to make the full loop--not much more to explore without wandering around the open fields.

Not a parkbench in sight anywhere or really anyplace to take a clip without looking awfully conspicuous... I kept looking...

And then the cops show up.

A couple of towns in Morocco have the dubious distinction of being towns where I get run out by the cops.  OK, encouraged to leave.  Biougra, Saka, Sidi Slimane so far.  Now I can add Guigou to the list.  Usually it's in a town so "boring" that they can't possibly see any reason for a tourist to be wandering around... Maybe their suspicious, or maybe they're really concerned for my safety and they ask me to leave.

This time it’s the Genderme.  They are pleasant enough--and offer me a ride back to the bus station.  I tell them that I want to stop for a coffee first, but really I still need to do my official concert in Guigou.  No way am I leaving without it.  So I find a sort of discreet spot and set to work. A little nervous--if they see me now they'll REALLY start scratching their heads...

Mission accomplished, I head on my way feeling a bit unappreciated here in Guigou...
