The Colosseum exterior
The Colosseum, The Forum, A Church near the Forum, The Huge Musuem/Tomb a block away from the Forum, The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps all in one day.

It was raining early in the morning, but started to clear up around 11am. And the Sun shined in all of its full glory around noon. The sun doesn't shine very often in Italy in the middle of February. So when it did, we had to get out and soak it up. The Sofitel Hotel(the hotel I am staying in) is a little over a mile north of the Colosseum. So we took a short 9 euro taxi ride down to the Colosseum(Flavium Amphitheater). We walked around the exterior of the Colosseum taking loads of Pictures. Then we got in line to go inside. The wait to get inside was about 40 minutes. We waited in line for a minute and got offered to join a tour which would get us inside right away for an extra 12 euro.

We paid the 12 euro, the tour guide gave us 15 minutes of historical facts and then we went inside bypassing the lines. I definitely recommend paying extra for the tour to bypass the lines. Well when we got inside, it was amazing and since it's February there weren't as many tourists. Of course, we walked around the entire inside and took tons of pictures. I kept thinking of the Movies 'Gladiator' and 'Jumper'. The left the Colosseum and walked up this long hill, thinking we were going to the Forum, but ended at a church. That was pretty interesting. We left the Church and found our way to the Forum. The Forum was mainly in ruin but was still a pretty cool site. We walked up a bunch of steps to get a birds eye view of the Forum and take more pictures.  We then set off for the Pantheon.

On the way, we saw a huge beautiful Musuem, which I think is a tomb for a celebrated soldier/s. Once we left the museum we kept toward the Pantheon. We imediately got lost. Which was awesome. Getting lost in foreign countries is one of my favorite parts of traveling. Serendipitous result of getting lost was running right into the Trevi Fountain. The Trevi Fountain was pretty cool. The saying is that you are supposed to throw coins over your shoulder into the fountain and you will return to Rome or something like that. Once we got to the Trevi Fountain, we knew where we were on the map and walked down the street to the Pantheon. On the way, We decided to stop at one of the back ally pizzerias.

I love eating at local spots. The food is great and very inexpensive. We had to pizza margheritas for about 14 euros.  During our meal, some of the patrons gave a beggar woman some coins, in return she serenaded the restaurant. She had a great voice and it was a wonderful moment added to an already wonderful day. After we ate we continued our quest to the Pantheon. The Pantheon was amazing as expected. But unfortunately my camera battery died a horrible death and I was only able to take like 5 pictures.  Walking thru the Pantheon and not being able to take pictures was torture. I definitely will have to make it back there before I leave Rome. After the Pantheon, we decided to head north to the our hotel. The Spanish Steps were on the way, so we decided to make one more stop. I had seen the Spanish Steps before so I let my co-worker stop and take pictures. Finally, after a walking miles and taking hundreds of photos, we made it back to the hotel. I lost about 5 pounds(LOL). Next week I will try to get to the Vatican.
