Day 1: Well, here I am in Hawai'i, and the first two days have been great, I'd have to say. I woke up at 2:30 am (after going to bed at 11:00) in order to get to the airport, park, take the shuttle, check-in, and get through security. My flight took off at 6 am, and even though I was in the middle seat, it wasn't too bad. After a short layover in LA, I boarded the plane to Maui. I completely lucked out, and when we started to taxi down the runway, I noticed some empty seats by the window and moved over to claim them. Not only did I have the two seats to myself the whole flight, it was an exit row, with leg room to spare.
I got into Maui at about 11:15, got my bags and my rental car (which ended up being quite a frustrating ordeal), and headed into Lahaina, where Brian lives.
We ate dinner at this little place in town. Maui is expensive! I got the cheapest thing on the menu (a burger and fries) and one beer (Big Wave Ale or something) and ended up shelling out 20 bucks. After getting one more drink at a little place right on the water, we came home and hung out on the back porch. They are so lucky to live in this amazing house! I called it a night around midnight; I'd been up for almost 26 hours at that point, and I was exhausted.
