The house on the Oosterbleek ( i just read that the house will be a monument), in the old days nr. 19 was not big enough for an family doctor. So the house had to be extended. Because the docter married the daughter of J.vd Ban,therefore he decided to make an extension to the house. Also the house The Enk is a monument, and this was built in 1909.
The daughter was my grandmother, and she was a traveller and writer. For example she went on her bike!!! from holland toRome, on her own! She went to Bergen in Norway by car, alone in 1926. She visited the house of Selma Lagerloff! And her car drove 45 km an hour! She publised this yourney in a well known magazine in holland. The ANWB (this was for people who drove a car) We still have this organisation in holland.
she also wrote for the Haarlems Dagblad (newspaper) and for the Magazine Arts en Auto.(doctor and car). And always about the travels she has made. And she wrote private things, like a diary from the 2nd world war. With a lot of information about Lochem. This is a very interesting document. And at the moment i am scanning this!! What a lot of work!!!!! This is to be sent to the dutch NIOD. War documentation centre. I also found a diary from 1914 the first world war, in that time she was travelling to Switserland and Italy. Amazing that people just went on with there lives and travel as if nothing was going on!!
