Lights, Camera, Action! = Universal Studios :)
August 10, 2002
We arrived to Orlando during the day, drove to the hotel, did the check in and left our stuff there. We didn't have time to waste and drove straight to Universal Studios. Now that I think about it, it was Saturday!!! but you know, when you are on holidays you loose track of the days, haha.
Don't remember how many people were part of the tour... just remember the tour operator waited for us until we were ready at the hotel and drove us to the park. We all got maps and he let us know at what time he'd be there for us. Ok, no problem. We might have been a small group of people, but once we were inside the group splitted.
Mmm, we looked the map and the lines, so we decided to skip the first attractions and started with others. Most people were following the map, attraction attraction, which made the lines really long. So better start in the middle and then come back to the first ones, when they wouldn't be so crowded, hehe. The master plan! Other tool / toy we had with us were these passes that help you to skip the lines, mmm. Sorry I forgot their name :(
Well, the attractions change all the time, so the ones I visited, might not be there anymore and there are new ones now, which means I have to go back, just to update my knowledge, hehe. Anyway we started with the Twister, which was cool! The line wasn't so long, yay! As if we were in a twister, we could feel the intense wind and driving rain while we were hearing Mother Nature's roar. This ride was great!
While we were walking to our next destination, I was enjoying the street sets. It seemed to be you were walking through different cities and towns, everything thank to the magic of the movies. It wasn't difficult to meet some popular characters there either. Of course they weren't the real actors, their work was to pretend to be them, be friendly and have fun with the visitors of the park. Mmm, I'd like to have a job like that, haha. Now I have to find a character I look alike, mmm.
Suddenly we arrived to NYC, well the sets of NYC and next to it was San Francisco, haha. One of the attractions there was the "Earthquake". Following the movie of the same name, it recreated an earthquake in the city. Lima is in a sismic area, but I have never experienced an earthquake here, so lucky! So, it was fun to experience one, knowing nothing bad would happen :)
While we were walking, we listened to a familiar song. Next attraction was another classic movie: "Jaws" How couldn't we recognize the theme song??? Impossible not to do it. It started like a peaceful tour through calm waters of Amity. But... there was something beneath the water surface... and not even the walls of flame couold stand in its way...
There were many things to see and do. We saw the Wild, Wild, West attraction. It was about a cowboy. Nothing too entertaining, but you could sit under the shadow, haha. So it worked for me perfect.
Of course we should go to "Back to the Future the ride", another classic. I really liked this one, so much, that we came back for a 2nd ride, haha. It was 3D one, cool! Here we had to use the passes to avoid the long lines. This attraction was always crowded. At the entrance you could see the "De Lorean", that famous car. Once it was our turn, we climbed into our time-traveling De Lorean and like the movie we were sent to the past, present and future, cool! While we were going out, I saw an old guy driving a bike. He was familiar to me. Who was it? Well he was the professor: "Dr. Emmet Brown", haha.
Then we went to the Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone. There we saw the "Funniest Animals", a show directed by Animal Planet, hehe. There were some orangutans and other animals, which made the children laugh a lot, haha. Since we were at the Kidzone, we saw some Nickelodeon characters too.
Next area we visited was "Hollywood". There we found one of the sweetest movies attraction: "E.T. Adventure". You had to hop aboard a star-bound bike and race across the moon. We were able to help E.T go home, how sweet!!!! There was a terror show too. It was more like a museum, where you could find some of the pieces they use for "The "Mummy" movie. That was cool!
All the most famous movies where there. Of course we found "Jurassic Park" and others.
The day was long. I didn't remember at what time we had lunch or if we had it, haha. Time does fly when you are having fun. Not only the attractions were great, but also all the street sets. They made me remember different movies and felt as if I were there, haha. Well, it was time to go to the hotel. I was just thinking about taking a shower and relax, haha. But before going to bed, we went out for dinner. We didn't party that day. It was a long day, plus next one would be even longer...
