Buenos Aires - Salta
March 15, 2009
My time in Buenos Aires was really short, i would loved to have spent a week here i really like it but i never accounted for how much of my time would be taken up travelling from place to place. The next trip i want to take is in Uyuni, the buses through Bolivia are rubbish and i can only fly as far as Salta in Argentina, then bus to the border, walk over to Bolivia and then bus to Tupiza and hopefully book a tour, the next two days would be travelling and so my time is now tight, i need to be in La Paz in 6 days and the tour is 4 days, eek! So i starting by taking a flight to Salta, this saved my alot of time on the buses but when i arrived there was only a connecting bus at midnight, it was now 10am so i checking in a hostel and had a walk around to town. Salta is really beautiful place, really pretty building and a lovely square with a park overlooking the cathederal, it was a nice day so i bought some lunch and sat out in the park for a few hours. I walked back to the hostel and my roommate was there, Chris was from Sheffield and travellling with a group of 9 lads, he wanted some time out so booked a few days away from the group, he invited my to eat with him so we walked back to the square, the cathederal was all lit up and the doors were open for service, it was breathtaking inside, gold everwhere, i didnt take a picture because there were alot of people inside and they might think it was rude, there have been so many pictures i would like to take, especially of local people but it rude just take without permission and when asked they normally say no which is fair enough, kids are different though they love it. After dinner i said goodbye to Chris and headed back for a quick shower before my bus. An american girl called Flower was waiting for a taxi to the terminal and was leaving for the same place as me so we arranged to meet up at the border and walk over together, ive never done that before and it would be at 5am so would prefer to have company.
