Spent a much needed vacation in Boracay island, known for its crystal clear water and fine white sand.

First day...

White Beach

Getting there: 45 minute flight from Manila to Kalibo...2 hour trip by land to Caticlan in a van...20 minute outrigger boat ride from Caticlan jetty to Boracay...tricycle ride from Boracay port to White Beach...walk along the beach to get to Boracay Courtyard...

By the time we checked into our rooms, it was well after lunch time.  The first thing we did was find a place to eat, and our hunger brought us to D'Talipapa.  D'Mall and D'Talipapa have the most choices when it comes to eating and shopping.  D'Mall boasts of many restaurants including fast food, and even a wall climbing area.  D'Talipapa on the other hand has small restaurants, and a wet market.  You could buy the seafood you want to eat from the wet market, then have it cooked in one of the many restaurants there, where they'll only charge you for the cooking.  It's a bit cheaper this way and you get to choose the quality and size of prawns, squid, or fish for your meal.  But you could always save yourself the trouble and just order what you want from their menu :)

The rest of the day was spent soaking up under the sun and in the water...

Along the beach you'll see a lot of sandcastles.  If you go near one and take photos though, you'll have to leave a small tip for those who built it :)

I'm Filipina and when I was in high school my family went on a trip to the Philippines. I can't believe I passed on the trip so that I could rent a house with my friends in Newport Beach! Ugh... kids! Silly me! Your pics are amazing.

We didn't watch him long enough to learn anything, though. Hehe. There are quite a few along the beach, and they even put the date! So at least we know they change part of it everyday :D And at night they fill it with candles. I'll check if I have a good photo.

Located in Station 2, Boracay Courtyard is about a minute walk from the beach. And a few steps more is the back entrance of D'Talipapa! We spent P1,000/night for a superior room (low season). It was actually better than I expected. Very clean, with aircon, cable TV, toiletries. Breakfast (meal not buffet) was included, but we had to go to another hotel/resort, La Carmela. Same owner, and it's a 3 minute leisure walk away from Boracay Courtyard :)
