My best friend studied in Costa Rica for a while, so it wasn´t a difficult decision to visit him there. We made a trip through major parts of Costa Rica and also spent some days in Nicaragua.

Travelling to Costa Rica and first impressions

My friend and the father of his host family ( who is two years younger than my buddy) were already waiting for me, having a beer in there hand! What a great welcome! That´s how I like it! I immediately noticed that I had to improve my Spanish-listening-and-reading-ability quickly! They were talking Spanish (of course)…my friend tried to translate a bit for me, but of course he couldn´t translate everything and since Martin (the father of the host family) kept asking me things, I had to switch to Spanish right away! They asked me if I were tired (I was already “on the road for 33 hours at that time), but I said “no, I´m not too tired yet!” or better “No, no estoy cansado ahorrita!”, so we drove to a casino, put some cents (actually it was Colones) into slot machines talked and downed some free whisky/coke-longdrinks! After about 45 minutes we left since Martin had to work the next day and drove to Cartago, the city where they live. Eventually I finally caught more than just one consecutive hour of sleep!
