Carsten on the bus
The alarm clock rang early that day…annoyingly early! But we didn´t have a choice but to get up to catch our bus to Monteverde! Martin and Lindsay decided to go to work earlier that day to take us to the bus station in San Jose! Thanks to you two…you´re great! But we were late…almost too late! Lindsay drove and man, this Tica has “cojones”! It was a fast ride and a wild one, but that was all good, because we got to the bus station just in time…well, actually not! Martin jumped out of the car and told one official that we had to get the bus. The man stopped the bus and as Carsten and I had our stuff ready and got to the bus the driver got out and mumbled something including “mierda”! It was hilarious! I don´t know how long the bus ride took…maybe seven hours!? We had to switch busses twice much to our surprise since Carsten didn´t have to switch busses at all last time he went to Monteverde.
nature
Monteverde is a National Park in the a rain forest area of Costa Rica, by the way. On the first bus we had perfect seats in the back…on the second one we had to stand and on the third one we had random seats…it was okay!
We eventually got to Santa Elena in Monteverde and went to our hostel! The room we got was very good! Great beds and a clean bath, what else can we ask for? We got sorted and then walked around the village…had a little snack in one of the countless “Soda”s in Costa Rica (a mixture of private house where they cook in their own kitchen for people who show up and restaurant). Got back to the hostel and had a short nap! Then we went to a shop and bought some food for dinner. We prepared it in the hostel-kitchen and got to talk to some Americans there. After that we had some 1 liter bottles of beer and talked for quite a while! In spite of skype, there was a lot to tlak about after not seeing each other for more than five months! Then we went to a local club which was not crowded at all, so we decided to leave early and go to bed.
