Stop at the Train Station
May 27, 2008
Let me first admit that there isn't much to this journal entry. On our way from Nikkō to Hakone, took the Nikkō Line to Utsunomiya, where we were to transfer on to a train bound for Hakone. During our brief stop in Utsunomiya, we purchased our Hakone Free Passes and we each got a train station bento lunch.
There's a good travel tip, by the way. The train stations in Japan all have bento-ya where you can pick up a quick boxed lunch to take aboard the train with you. There are usually 20 or more types of bento to choose from, and they're all quite decent, considering they're pre-made early in the day. These places are swamped during the lunch hour in busy train stations, but if you go for an early or late lunch, you won't be rushed to decide, nor will you hold up the line.
By no stretch of the imagination did we actually see the city of Utsunomiya. I just wanted to make this post to share some photos I took at and from the Utusnomiya Train Station.
