Finding trouble in every corner of Vegas through the years

Las Vegas

Las Vegas for me is home away from home.  Over the last 17 years I have been there so regularly that I can't count how many times I have visited.

The last trip I took to Las Vegas was in April of 2009.  It was a family reunion, of sorts.  Since my siblings enjoy playing craps I usually don't have to worry about paying for a room because both of them get comped suites and rooms  :o)

The trip before it was in October of 2008.  This trip's theme was a culinary tour of the city, eating my way through the best hotels and restaurants.  You see, I was dating a chef at the time and he actually knew some of the famous chef owners of these restaurants.  Man! What a great experience and a whole new perspective of the city than ever before!!!  Spectacular food.

.. my belly actually hurt by the time I left because I had eaten so much over a 36 hour period of time!  Staying at the Wynn Hotel, I enjoyed their ground-floor coffee shop for morning muffins and coffee and then their grill for soup at lunch on the first day.  Next I moved to Okada, a Japanese exquisite restaurant where I enjoy the most lavish sushi I could imagine.  The surroundings and service was extraordinary and exotic.  The food quality was breathtaking, and the experience a joy.

Here is a partial list of the hotels I have stayed in over the years in Las Vegas:
Bellagio    Wynn   Golden Nugget   Four Queens   Stratosphere   Imperial Palace   Mandalay Bay   Venetian   Frontier   Ballys   Flamingo   Excalibur   Silverton   MGM   New York New York   Rio   Luxor   Treasure Island   Mirage   Monte Carlo   Caesar's Palace    Hilton Convention Center   Harrah's

and I have been in about 60% of the hotels either shopping, looking, eating, or gambling.

Wynn Hotel in Vegas is a win!
Staying at Wynn was a true luxury! The room was decorated in a pleasant scheme of colors, the king bed was very comfortable with high thread count sheets, the towels plush, and in general, quite a spacious standard room.

We were on floor 21 with a room overlooking the pool. Lovely both during the day and the evening. Very quiet with housekeeping moving in an almost stealth-like quietness in the mornings.

Bathrooms were equipped with a wall-mounted tv, jacuzzi tub and separate shower, very large and well equipped.

The restaurants in this hotel are something to behold! Though I was on a culinary tour of Las Vegas on this trip, I was still pleasantly surprised that everything I tasted was better than expected. Even the caffe' in the lobby for morning coffee was delicious~ great coffee!

The lobby is always decorated with white lights in the trees, mosaic tiles on the floor, and the entire hotels smells great.

Adjacent shops are very high end with an excellent selection of expensive watches and fashion.

Okada is the best seafood in Vegas
Exceptional service, presentation, variety and quality. Expensive but well worth it.

The lobster sushi roll is exquisite and the tartar trio appetizers are what they are famous for.

Stunning setting with every seat having a view of the 2 story waterfall and lake, simple elegance ~ spectacular desserts.

If you are a coffee drinker you simply MUST order the French Pressed coffee after dinner~ it tastes as good as it smells.

Two thumbs up! I will definitely be going back to this restaurant.

Mix has the best view of the strip in Las Vegas
Unbelievable restaurant! Stunning views of the city from the lounge and dining room, premium service, massive wine selection, best halibut that I have EVER had! I learned that all the fish is flown in daily from exclusive ranchers in Alaska who only fish for this chef. American Kobe beef comes from the Snake River ranchers for this restaurant as well as the best bison steaks.

Elegance from top to bottom~ The chef has other restaurants in Paris, Switzerland, and Monte Carlo.

French and American style foods that were "to die for." Very expensive around $100 per person for the food alone and worth every penny. This is also the most romantic place I've been to.

Le Reve is a beautiful aquatic performance
With tickets at about $138 each, this new cirque du soleil performance at the Wynn hotel defies imagination. The aquatic theater seating is 360 degrees so the atmosphere feels more intimate than other performances by the cirque.

Most of the performers descend from the ceiling during this show or from 1 of 3 entrances between the seats. Absolutely beautiful lighting in the water, imagery, and costumes. These performers are astonishing athletes showing amazing strength and grace.

Show lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Very lovely and well worth the ticket price.
