Tampa Bay Area

Tampa Thearter in Downtown Tampa.

Tampa is fun to visit if you plan to go to Busch Gardens or Clearwater Beach. The Tampa bay area has beautiful beaches. Nightlife is not like miami. People go out to places everywhere but the nicest area is south Tampa or SOHO. Not NYC's SOHO, this is South Howard Avenue, so we call it SOHO. This is nice b/c there are many restaurants and bar along the street and you can go from one place to another.

Things to do while you are in Tampa, take a walk along Bayshore blvd- along the bay. It is nice when the weather is not too hot. Hyde Park Village is nice to walk around to and it's located in south Tampa as well. There are some concerts in this area but they change the days and times all the time.

Busch Gardens is basically a big Zoo with roller coasters! I love this place! The rides are fast and the new one, SHEIKRA, has a 90 degree fall! recently i was on the first row and i almost had a heart attack! and this is hard for me to say b/c i love roller coasters and never get sick! AND it was at night! so this makes the fall a lot worse!(or better depending on your nerves).

Busch Gardens

Recently i went on a Safari. The pictures i have with the giraffes are from that Safari. There are several ones you can pick from. This has a extra fee but since I'm a florida resident i have the year-long pass to BG and i only paid the Safari tour. Otherwise you have to pay the general admission plus the safari. The Safari was 30 minutes and you can feed the giraffes. It was amazing!!!!!! the let you pet them, just like dogs they come close to you b/c they know you have food!!! I didnt want to leave! I will do it again next time a friend comes to Florida. Theme parks get you tired after going there more than 3 times! I love them but the lines are LONG. I mean, you have to go! they are great! but when you live here you go everythime somebody comes on vacation

My favorite part about this Aquarium was the Florida's Exhibition. They show the animals from the wetlands. They have an open environment. I wonder how they keep them in place but the birds and ducks seem to be OK with having people so close to them.
There is a Pinguin show twice a day that we missed. I got there late on a Friday afternoon. It took us about 2 hours to walk around. It is not a big Aquarium but it was nice. Specially that I touched stingrays!!!!! There is another touch-tank for invertebrates and sea stars from the Pacific! The water in this tank was freezing! they have tanks with people watching you while you touch them!! it was incredible. I love animal and I was so excited to be that close to them!
There are other things you can do at the Aquarium-for extra cost-. You can swim with the coral reef fishes, with the sharks(must be SCUBA certified), go on a dolphin encounter. General Admission is $17.95

This has to be my favorite restaurant in Tampa. I go here so often I know the owners and all the waiters/bartenders!
This is the best Sangria I've ever had- never been to Spain but...
I also love the food here. I like the Montaditos which is a shrimp salad with avocado. I also like the Pollo al Ajillo, which is chicken with a creamy garlic sauce and mashed potatos. Other good tapas are: Gambas a la Sangria, Steak a la parrilla, Zarzuelita and everybody loves their Paella but I dont like paellas anywhere.
You need to order at least 2 tapas and a pitcher of Sangria gives you about 6-8 glasses. They have red, white and champagne Sangrias! I love all 3 but try at least the red.
There is a live band on Wednesdays, a DJ on Thursdays, and Fridays and Saturdays is a great place for drinks and late dinner.
