Metallica Meetup
After 3 years of trying i finally won in may 2008 a meet and greet contest with the Metallica Fanclub. 30th of may was D-day. I was really going to meet them. I had to be at the entrance of the backstage area at 5 o'clock pm just 3 hours before the concert. 13 lucky people showed up for the meet. Everybody was pretty excited and brought stuff to sign by the band. The rull was you only bring 2 items to sign, nut some people had a whole bag full of stuff.
After landed a Dutch local airport in the South of the Netherlands Metallica got into a couple of taxies and were escorted to the festival Area. During this trip a colleague of mine form the border police had a worse accident on his motorbike. Hey was ran over by a big truck who didn't saw him. He almost lost his life during this accident. Metallica's personal doctor saved his life!!! It is almost a year ago and my colleague is still at home fighting to keep his righ arm.
A guy from the crew showed up and signed us in on his list, we all got a sticker on our t-shirt wich allowed us backstage excess. 2 people didn't showed up so we tried to get Jasmyn in also but they didn't allowed it, strange, because the metallica guys wouldn't mind. But we tried and lost!!!
Than he took us backstage and we had to wait a couple of minutes before the first metallica member Kirk Hammet arrived. It was a great moment. We spoke a bit and he signed some items. I brought a metallica club t-shirt and the cd from masterr of puppets. After Kirk Robert came out of the 'compound' and did the same route.
Than my favorite band member. Mr James Allen Hetfield. That is the leadsinger of the band. Hey is great relax guy and full of humor. Had a quick chat and het signed my lake!. The day after i tattood it over!!!! At last but not least MR Lars Ulrich came out. Hey was out the longest and chatted with everybody. Great 'small'funny guy. Doesn't look like a rockstar and a multi miljonair (but he is!!) Never the less,. thiswas a day never to forget, once in a lifetime. 2 hours after the meet, metallica played all there famous songs at a 2 hours gig at Pinkpop!!!!
