The school!

Spent a full 2 weeks in Tenerife in a town called Puerto de la Cruz and took a Spanish language course there. The school is called Donquijote and provides lessons for all levels ( A1 till D2) I took the beginners lesson and loved it. I planned 3 weeks, but left after 2, so i could surprise Jasmyn!! It worked!! See www.donquijote.com for more information.

I left home the 3th of Januari 2009 and left by train to Dusseldorf airport. This was the last train that left. I was way too early at the airport and had to wait for a couple of hours. By time went quick and before i new i took of with Air berlin on my way to Tenerife airport North.

After a relax flight of 4 hours and 10 minutes we landed at Tenerife. As i left the terminal it started to rain wich is not unusual for this time of year in the North of Tenerife. A 25 minutes brought me to the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. On the bus i met steffen a German guy wich also went to Puerto to follow the Spanish Course. But he would only spent a week.
We had to pick up our keys from the apartement at a local hotel, because the school was closed on sundays.(wich school isn't!!) We got our keys and walked to the apartement. The appartement was nice, 3 bedrooms a ktichen, a livingroom and a balcony. It was not very moderen but ok for a couple of weeks. There was also a lady in house but she left the same day we arrived. We unpacked our bag and went for a short sleep sinds i didn't sleep at all that night.
Me and steffen
Around 5 o clock we went outside and discovered Puerto de la Cruz. What we noticed were that that 80% of the people walking around were well above 60 years of age. It happen to be the 'old season' in january. We hoped nightlife would be better.

On monday 5th of januari at 8 o clock we arrived at school and were getting ready for class. Steffen was already  C1 student so he had to go to a different class than me. I'm an absolute beginner. To bad they told me there was no class available for me because there were no other beginners. The told me to come back in the afternoon at 1 and i got a private teacher. No problem. Arriving at 1 there was one more girl in my class wich was also a beginner. We had our first 4 hour lesson of Spanish, wich was lots of fun!!!
On tuesday we were of from school (allready!!).
Loro Parque
6th of januari is a national holiday, in wich the celibrate 3 kings. Everything is closed then!! It's like there christmas. At night there were some partys round town, but not that busy because the celebrate at home with family.  The rest of the week i met lots of people most from school some in the bar. Every day we took a 4 hour lesson from 9am untill 1pm. Wich inculded a brak from 1/2 a hour. School was fun and we really learned something but it was also hard talking spanish for 4 hours. The teachers were not that good in english so it was sometimes hard to understand what the ment. But my dictionary came in handy. The second week were put in another class with a dutch couple a german lady and a girl from Berlin. It was more fun sitting in a class so we could practice more with eachother.
Me and the barlady!!
In the weekend we went to local bars and had a lot of fun, most of school were in that bars. Late discos and nightclubs opend at 1am at nigt and stayed open untill 8 in the morning. This was no option during schoolweek. With steffen we also visited the Botanic gardens in Puerto de la cruz wich was nice to see. I alone went to Loro Parque wich was a large and very nice Zoo in the Puerto de la Cruz. People from all over the island and from other islands from Grand Canaria visit this park. All the animals you can emagine are there including the big orca killer wales. A spend almost a good day in the park and watched al the shows!! See the picture from orca in front of me!!! I was soaked wet.
I also rented a car for  the weekend and drove down to Playa de las Americas in the south of the island. The weather is much more better there, but also more toeristic. Big resorts full with people!! There is also Siam Park wich is a big waterpark with lots of slides. It's the biggest waterpark in Europe.
