This morning I decided to go for a drive to another local area, Elliot Heads about 15 minutes drive from where I live. I asked mum if she would like to come along and off we drove. The first site we saw when driving towards the beach area was the unmistakable chutes from the Kite Surfers and then we managed to see the beach. At first we took a walk to the inlet where the kite surfer's were and watched them for a little bit. It was a windy day again so what we saw was quite spectacular with some of the surfers getting 10-15 metres air borne from the water at times. This area has a small island or large sand bar which makes a small inlet where the surfers were and also there were a few Jet Skis in operation also.
After this we walked to the swimming beach, where I of course had to go for a swim.
The Bill Murray Scenic Coastal Pathway
It was low tide so the water was out and shallow with waves just sort of breaking everywhere. And it was also cold, well colder than I like anyway... so I didn't stay in the water for very long at all. After this Mum and I walked along the beach for a bit, then we took the "Bill Murray Scenic Coastal Pathway" and went for a walk. Now I'm sure this wasn't named after the actor, I presume it is someone local. This part of the coast also was formed by a volcano so there are a lot of volcanic rocks scattered all over the beaches. The walk we took follows the coast line and cliffs for about 1 kilometre along which there are pars and trees scattering the cliffs, which also made for some great photos.
After this walk we went past the local surf life saving club which was having an awards ceremony and then we went in search of some food for lunch. In all is was another relaxing trip.
