First time to Abel Tasman - blown away!

WOW is all I have to say!

We've both lived in the South Island all of our lives and never realised that this gem of a place was only 4 hours away from us! It's like stepping onto a beach in Fiji - seriously!

We actually weren't that prepared, and didn't even bring packs or anything, we presumed we could just park our far, walk a few yards and set up our tent. No - not that easy. So we had to lug what we could carry to the nearest beach on the track. It was only about 1.5hrs walk (if that) and we were at Apple Tree bay. A gorgeous stretch of beach with some pine trees. A get this - a toilet. I found that so strange, even running water from a tap.

There was no one else on the beach, and we set up our tent under a large pine tree, near the picnic table. It was so nice. Lots of shells and such scattered all over the sand. It was sooo nice and so hot for April.
