A hot kiwi day on Raglan beach
Today we went for a day trip to New Zealand’s west coast. But we weren’t bored or something like that, no, serious sports business was waiting in Raglan! I made my first triathlon experience … as a spectator ;-).
A friend of mine was an active participant in a triathlon over there. I was quite pleased because I hadn’t been to a triathlon before.
Of course, my excitement would have been even bigger if I had taken part by myself but, frankly, I think I don’t need that much excitement ;-).The day would have been an absolutely perfect beach day because the sky was blue and the sun was shining as bright as glow worms at night. That means the active participants were almost turning into a crisp. Their challenge was a 400 m swim in the Pacific, a 14 km bike ride up and down the hills and a 6.1 km run.
Everybody who managed that (burning) competition deserved an enormous clap!! The spectators and the atmosphere during the morning were great and every single sportsman was treated like the best of all.
Even if I didn’t swim, run or biked around like hell I had a big responsibility. I was responsible for good photos and neat snapshots. That means I turned into a sports reporter because every moment could have been the most important one and what if la photo wouldn’t exist of that very second later on?
After so much excitement we enjoyed a walk along the beach where a fresh breeze was more than welcome and a quick splash cooled us down.
