Coalisland, is a delightful little strip situated in the Mighty county of Tyrone in the North of Ireland.

One of the main features of this fantastic town; is the former RUC station situated in the cenre of the town or  'village',  adjacent to Fabio Landi's (a must stop for eats!) -and O Neill's REAL Irish bar (formerly  "The Venue" and hosts to such mammoth acts as: pOcKeT pRoMiSe- one of Irelands steadily emerging talents (you can find them on

If you are lucky enough to have ventured to this quaint little village; and have your snaps of the police station taken- fear not- you will find your self only an Asses roar from Gervins bar and pool hall- the birth place, and development ground of Dennis Taylor; the 1985 World Snooker Champion (see google images-how could you forget those glasses...)

Having steeped yourself in the finest Coalisland has to offer, why not take a spin or a  'stage'  out to Ardboe (Gaelic for  'Tall Cow'  ... I Know- un-believeable!) home to Brad pitt in the hollywood movie Devils Own  [1997 Alan J Pakula]                                                                        (...I'm from a small fishing village outside Cookstown...') When there why not try to get a glimpse of one of the Mc Guigan's- the finest footballing family in the Country.

If you're coming to Coalisland, be sure to book your tickets early, busses run regularly from Dungannon- but you may have to stand if you get caught in a school run...

Ladies and gentlemen... I give you Coalisland!

I backpacked around coalisland for a year and didn't even get to see the half of it, some stunning natural phenomena like annagher hill, the coal pit road and the rubbish tip on the way out to clonoe. Ate nearly every night at landis, which has a good balance of fine dining and casual faire. Try and come at festival time when the town really kicks off, and if you haven't been glassed by the sunday night ye haven't enjoyed yourself.
