Venice is a wonderful city even in the winter. We took the train and fell in love with the city as soon as we walked out of the train station. It was Christmas evening when we arrived so we found a hotel from the travel center in the train station which was the Hotel Vitturi that I reviewed. It was a little difficult to find at first because the city's streets and squares are numerous and confusing. There are signs for the major tourist attractions on most corners so following those will usually get you where you need to go. The first day we just walked around, saw the usual sites of St Marks Square and the Grand Canal, shopped, and tried different foods. For the next day our hotel booked us a gondola ride that also serenaded us through the canals with voice and an accordian type instrument which was very pleasant. That night we went to the Cirk Il Teatro Del Circo at the Goldoni Theatre. It was a circus type play which was very entertaining. We ended the night with an awesome dessert at Osteria Ae Sconte near our hotel. Unfortunately, the next morning we had to go home.
