Wildlife Adventure Detour
We stopped for a potty break at exit 407 on ...some highway in TN and found that we were only about 10 miles away from Wildlife Adventures. It's a small mostly indoor facility that houses birds, lemurs, turtles, tortioses, and George. Many of the animals at this facility have been donated by locals who could not care for their 'pets'. They have an educational show that is about 45 minutes long in which you can pet a hedgehog, tarantula and George. George is a porcupine and he is very friendly. He follows the keeper around like a puppy. Big Bird the white cockatiel used in the show was swinging his perch from side to side and squawking. But he only squawked when he swung in one direction, to the left. When someone noted that out loud, he stopped and started squawking when he swung to the other side. It was prery comical. There's a small outside section too where you can feed the goats and sheep and see a kangaroo and emu. The kangaroo kept hopping in circles and slidding down the hill, I think he was bored. Unfortunately, I did not get many good pictures since many of the animals are behind glass.
