Foggy Escorial and sheeps on the street;)
January 3, 2009
The plan for this day was El Escorial near Madrid with the great Palace/monastery. We went there by cercanias (suburban train) in the morning. Unfortunately it was not the best weather - i mean no sun, but we were lucky anyway coz it didnt rain, so... pretty cool! (and no snow or temperatures under 0 hahaha).
As we arrived to Escorial, we walked up the hill and saw the huuuge building-complex. It's really so big and has some dignity in it. Pretty nice piece! but we didnt bother to wait for hours in the queue... no mood to stay there like a foul - so we saw it from outsde and went to see the little town. It's really very nice place, very clean, with good infrastructure, nice houses - so we climbed to the top, until the last street on top of the hill when the forest starts. And the forest looked so mysterious, beacause of the fog. I'd love to climb a bit in the forest but RJ didnt like so we walked down back to the town.
At that time there was plenty of statues made of some kind weird material (i can't describe it in effinglish) they were everywhere in the town centre, not only ppl statues but also animals, and even some buildings like a castle. It was all because of Christmas. Really very nice idea - especially because it was spread in the whole town.
We took some picture goofing as always. Then we ate our late breakfast = croissant and coffe and then we tryed t get back to the station. But we got lost:) ahahhaah the map we had was only for the very middle of the town and so we got lost. We asked ppl for direction and so we got rescued;)
At the station there were mutually exclusive informations about the schedule of the trains, first i thought we had train in 15 mins, there the info at the stations said in 2 hours the voice anouncement was about a train leaving right now - we got confused. I asked the locals coz there were ppl entering the platforms and they gave us the right info. The train was standing there already and left soon in fact!.
And other funny thing, another local - an older guy - asked me about some trains, and me - the stranger - was able to help him, coz i got informed like 2 second earlier by another person ahahhaha.
But in fact people keep asking me all the time for directions. And it doesnt matter if im in my home-town or abroad - they always ask me (and i usually know the answear:P:P:P!!!) ;)
