Winery and Festival

Miyoshi Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

When I was in grade 7 I did an exchange to Japan for 2 weeks. In the years after I kept in touch with the girl who's house I stayed at and in March of 2006 she came to stay at my house for 10 days. After that I decided I wanted to go back to Japan. Tomoko thought it was a good idea to so I made the plans and went there by myself in August for 20 days. It was amazing, Japan is a beautiful country and I can't wait to go back. This blog is finally finished!!Yay I'm happy now.

Winery and Festival

Us at the tea ceremony in the museum.

On my first day in Miyoshi me and Tomoko and Tomoko's mom drove to the Hiroshima Miyoshi Winery where we met up with Yukiko and her cousin to have lunch and go to the Ogenki Desku museum(I think thats what it was called). Then we had grape ice cream at the winery. While we were there we also went to a tea ceremony in the museum, which was really interesting. The tea was gross though, but I don't like tea, so maybe thats why. Then we went back to Tomoko's house where there was a summer festival going on next door for their community. So we went there with Tomokos parents and her brothers and her brother's friend. It was really fun, we ate potatoes and chicken and noodles and a hot dog on a stick. I also had a 'traditional japanese festival drink', which was really good. Then everyone got up and did a Japanese dance to a traditional japanese festival song, so I had no idea what it was, but I tried my best to get it right. It was really fun and I met some awesome people. Before we left the mayor of the town brought me to the podium they were on and gave me this big box with a lot of Japanese bath salts and soaps. It was a really cool experience.
