Silver Springs Eco-Park in Ocala, FL

Mom and Dad took us to Silver Springs Park, a fun eco-tourism sort of place that Dad had visited when he was 10 years old!  We spent all day enjoying the park.  They have glass-bottomed boats you ride on the pure waters over Silver Springs.  It is like snorkeling without getting wet as you can see all the way to the bottom of the clear water.  Fresh water springs send up over 800 million gallons of water a day!  More than 50 movies have been filmed there.  It is quite a remarkable natural treasure!

We also enjoyed the animals there:  giraffes who eat graham crackers from your hand, birds in too-small cages, and the albino white alligators, as well as some animal shows featuring tarantulas, snakes, alligators and bats.

The tickets were very pricey, almost rivaling Disney park tickets, but discounts were available (AAA, etc) and I'm sure a quick internet search would yield deals the next time.  There were a few rides too and we really enjoyed our day in the beautiful sunshine and perfect temperature.  A great day!
