After three months over on the Pacific side of the continent, all we had to do was take a lot of buses, things that looked like buses (but weren´t), three long boat rides, and a 3 hour flight and we´re at the Atlantic ocean!
We got into Fortaleza really really late, or really early as the hotel workers greeted us with "Bom Dia". We found an alright place in a great location on the beach and passed out until noon. The rest of the day we spent running around Fortaleza looking for an English bookstore to re-do our collection and find a Portugese phrase book. Fortaleza is a great city to walk around and even though its blazing hot, there is a wonderful ocean breeze that makes it quite pleasant to be outside. The beaches are really pretty and although there are many, many buildings along the shore somehow it looks pretty and fitting. We found our books and also found a great Middle Eastern fast food place called "Habibs" which includes a mosque-looking kiddie playground. Quite hilarious.
We were originally planning on leaving on Friday but we were both tired and Em wasn´t feeling well so we decided to stay one more night. We had an awesome lasagne dinner and took a romantic stroll on the beach. The next morning, we woke up, ate some breakfast, and headed to our next destination even though we were quite road weary.
