One of the things you have to see for yourself is the Golden or Royal Palace. That's what they told us when we came to Thailand for the first time. But we did ignore this tip, because we thought it was one big commercial thing, just for tourist. So we skiped the palace and went home without seeing it. Than at home we read more about the palace and what's there to see, that we felt like idiot's that we didn't visit the palace. Ofcourse it's one big commercial spectacle, but it's also a piece of history. So, we decide to pay it a visit this year.
So, the 30th of september we went to see the palace. Due to the big political strikes in Bangkok it wasn't to busy wenn we came there. That's a pre, because I don't like to much crowed when I'm visiting places of interest. Here I was walking, with my camera around my neck, a bottle of water in one hand and a small towel to wipe of the sweat from my face in the other, taking photo's of every corner I could find in the palace. Thank god, I didn't look like a typical tourist in a land were it's much to warm to strain at 12:00 noon. (Ahum, Ahum...) Gladly I did the photographing and haven't made pictures of myself, I'm so glad for that.
I must say, the palace is beautiful, it's all glitter and glamour. And yes, when your in the neighborhood, go and pay it a visit.
