After a 2-hour bus ride from the airport of Girona we reached Barcelona's city centre and there we took a city train to camping El Masnou which was about 8 km further on. This little camping is located next to the sea and is full of young people, excellent. From the beach nearby you could catch a glimpse from Barcelona already. So we decided to get back to the centre and our first stop was Plaza Catalunya. One of the biggest and busies squars in the middle of the city. The fountain, good weather and little fields of grass make it a nice place to relax. There's a busy subway station beneath the square. Here we discovered Barca is a busy cosy warm town full of surprises.
If you into the little narrow streets on the left side of Las Ramblas you'll enter the Barri Gotic. This is an old part of Barcelona with cosy little squares covered by palm trees and traffic-free little roads. We went back to the camping spot on foot, and quite late into the night. In order to be able to follow the shore we had to climb over rocks and walked over construction sites but it was a nice little adventure and the little lights of Barcelona could be seen in the distance.
