A last time minute trip!
December 23, 2008
"And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it" ..... Paulo Cohelo - The Alchemist
I've been dreaming about Europe since I was very young, for some reason the old continent always got my attention, but at the same point it became some sort of a such a far away dream, and so expensive for a young south American girl. However, I always knew that one day I was going to be there and see all those wonderful places with my own eyes.
Years passed and in 2005 there was a chance to go, I got a good ticket deal and even an invitation, but didn't have much luck at the end, and I didn't get the visa. So, I ended up traveling to the States for like a month and also met love, so it wasn't that bad after all! hahaha :P
I forgot about Europe for sometime, and was basically traveling in the American continent. Then in 2007 I joined TB and started looking at blogs and pics about Europe and it woke up the idea to visit it again.
In July 2008 I got a very good deal, and without hesitating I bought the ticket! .... Still, I didn't have the visa yet, and didn't want to get excited about my trip or make plans until I get the visa.
The Ticket was for the end of the year and I knew I still had plenty of time to make the papers and get the interview at the embassy, however time passed and passed and December arrived, and it was almost 2 weeks before my departure, and I still didn't have the visa! hahhaha .... I made all the paper work in time record, got a fast interview at one of the Schengen's embassies, and 3 days before my flight, they gave me the green light!!! :)
The ones who knew about this odyssey hahaha know all I had to do to make this happen!!! :P
Now, everything was fine, I got the permit, but what now!! I didn't make any plans for those 18 days I was going to be in Europe.... So, AGAIN in a 3 days record, I started planning everything.....decided where to go, booked hotels, trains, flights..... and hopefully everything was set, I tried to get the best deals I could, but as it was a last minute trip and end of December, Amsterdam wasn't the cheapest place to stay.... Still, I managed to go and be there! :)
And so the journey started.....
